Vision and idea of the documentary

The documentary is part of a larger project and vision to use images to capture and retell stories from places once full of people, events, and activities. Today it has fallen silent and risks disappearing both in our memory and physically.

In my previous projects, I have often portrayed people. I have captured people in a natural and, to some extent, documentary situation. In this project, the people no longer exist, only traces of them through the places they once happened to be. The pictures show the present as the site look today, but they connect to a historical event about to be forgotten.

The basic idea

Documental - El Autódromo de Sitges-Terramar is an art project and a digital photo collection of over 200 images. The project, Documental, is represented by a selection of these images. Pictures taken on-site on Monday, 27 February 2023, show El Autódromo de Sitges Terramar as it is today. Through the photographer's eye and camera lens, seemingly randomly selected excerpts are captured and carefully processed with light and absence of light to reproduce a bygone era. They are forming a once lively time, full of people breathing optimism and faith in the future. A time that preceded a civil war and a world war and later underwent a democratization process with the abolition of a fascist dictatorship. Now sleeping and abandoned, waiting for something new.

The documentary presented

The project comprises a total of +350 images, of which about forty selected images are presented on the site as a digital exhibition supplemented by short texts about the place, its history, and its context.
